Yes, France, Italy and even Mexico I think I had the same experience. Now it is normal, but the first time feels odd to undress next to their desk while they wait. I also almost always try to get female Drs, but have definitely had male too. And although I don't praise the states for much, they seem to always be in the forefront of more gentle, heating the spectrum etc. Lol.

Oh interesting. Thanks for sharing. Oh wow, I have never had a heated spectrum. That sounds fabulous.

Jess! A few months ago "our" gynecologist was on sick leave, and I had another male doctor. This time, he didn't stay at his desk. He stood quite close to me (think cocktail party close) and made conversation while I undressed in front of him. "So, are you American? What do you think of your last president?" Really? Really.

Yuck, yuck and yuck to all of it. Ha! I don't think I will ever get used to the close talker while I am naked, unless of course it is Will. Ha! xoxo

This is so interesting (and made me laugh out loud - poor you, poor Will, I can just imagine my husband's face in that situation!). Here in the UK having an annual check isn't a thing, we go three yearly, unless there's something that needs keeping an eye on more often. I love this share, I think it's really important that we talk about these things openly.

You know it may actually not be EVERY year as well in the USA now. I have not been in the US for gyno for almost a decade. Since I have had an issue and it is very little $$$ I do it every year wherever I am in the world. Yes to sharing about this. I am all for sharing all the things that are taboo. It only helps us all.

Hilarious but important information! Especially for young girls who travel! They must not forget this important aspect of women’s health!

So true. Overall I do find that women who travel tend to neglect their female health or at least drastically spread out visits. I am often tell them it is not as scary as it seems in foreign countries, just sometimes different.

I would have wondered if he was taking advantage of my ignorance on the undressing part. 🤦‍♀️🤣
