Why a Podcast?
Phew, today is a big day. I can’t believe it is finally here; four of our podcast episodes launched at 9 am EST today, January 17th. I feel sweaty and exposed right now, which means this was a good decision. It is usually necessary if it scares us and takes us out of our comfort zone. I am both right now! Will is cool as a cucumber, as usual. My reason for the sweaty palms is that we worked so hard to bring you value in these podcasts and NOT have it be an indulgent travel-related podcast. It took us this long to give it life because we could not get the theme to work how we wanted. There are some fantastic travel podcasts out there that bring travel value. Still, we wanted to take a different approach that encompasses our travel stories and what we learned, but that brought value to a “why” focused life for the masses, not just travelers or hopeful travelers. I think we have done that. You tell me, what do you think?
This is all fresh out of the gate, so it will ebb and flow as it unfolds and we get your feedback. However, we are committed to sharing our big, audacious WHYs weekly.
Travel is so much more than the cool lifestyle, the hacks, the fresh croissants in Paris, or the flavorful tagine in Morocco; it’s the stuff that no one talks about after ten years of WorldTowning that has the most value. We will pull back that curtain and invite you into what feels like a conversation in our living room over Chai. Thank you for being here and encouraging this project. We finally got it off the ground.
The details
We will release weekly on Wednesdays at 9 am EST. We will take the months of August and December off, but we will rerun the hits of the previous months, so you won’t ever go a week without a podcast.
For now, it will be just Will and I as the hosts, but once we have a good rhythm, we will have guests at least once a month, maybe more often, depending on the feedback. The guests won’t always be travelers but people who have a strong WHY and have been able to accomplish amazing acts as a result.
We value your feedback; don’t be shy, but also don’t be unkind. We are humans with feelings on the other end of this.
This is us unedited. Well, we have an editor, but nothing has been removed from what we originally taped so far. We will be ourselves, which sometimes means sniffling (I have killer allergies), profanity (it is categorized as explicit for a reason), and the truth! We are not holding back, which means it will get heated, we will cover big topics, and we will not tolerate shitty humans as commenters (or guests) or in life in general. This means we will hit some big topics we have encountered during our years of travel: racism, marginalization, climate change, inequality, and women’s rights to list a few. But we will also have a lot of fun stuff and funny episodes. This podcast is not for everyone, but if this speaks to you, we welcome you. If not, I am sure you can find a podcast better suited for your needs; no hard feelings.
We have unique portable equipment to travel with us worldwide; that being said, we might record in situations with background noise beyond our control at points. We hope you understand, as we will always do our best to have optimal conditions. As our surroundings change when we move from place to place, so will our ability to have a perfect recording location.
Yes, Avalon and Largo will join us from time to time as the topic and their schedules apply. I am most excited to get their perspective on parts of our lives and “their why” that might differ from ours.
