That dirty word…Boundary

True right? When someone says “boundary,” all the bells and whistles go off, and the guard goes up. I LOVE this word. It might be my favorite word in the English language currently. I now have a word for when someone calls me controlling, complex, or existing in life with too many rules. I am none of the above; I have a boundary, and when we have a boundary that the recipient does not like, they often resort to name-calling. I went through the first 35 years of my life thinking I was all of those mentioned above because I worked hard to honor myself, my parenting, my career, my lifestyle, and my relationships, and some did not like that. I always knew deep down it was them, not me, and, in most cases, their ego, but I never had a phrase for what I was doing. 

Then walks in this dirty word. BOUNDARY! And I fell in love.
