Hello friends,

I originally wrote this post back in 2022. Then I let it sit in my drafts until the right time to share came. Now is that time.

One of the most common questions we get on our YouTube vlogs is:

“Does one of you on your boat identify as LGBTQIA+?”

What’s interesting is that we’ve referenced the LGBTQIA+ community in only two vlogs over more than eight years of filming, yet this question consistently tops the list. The assumption seems to be that the only reason we would show support is if we had a child who identifies as LGBTQIA+.

To date, we don’t.

What we do have is a belief in equality for all humans. And people who identify as LGBTQIA+ are humans.

Years ago, in a vlog where we noticed our Pride flag was worn and replaced it with a new one, I decided to finally address this question. I explained why we fly the flag.

First, it’s a visible sign that we are allies, to anyone who sees our boat at anchor or in a marina.

Second, it serves as a boundary. It discourages anyone who does not believe in equality from stepping aboard.
